Field Visits by SchEMS Students in 2005 Fall Semester

B.Sc. III and V Semester students had a field visit to ICIMOD, Godawari on Dec 23, 2005 as a part of field study in Biodiversity and Biotechnology (BIO 203.3) and Biodiversity Assessments and Conservation Technique (BAC 305.3). The aim of the visit is to familiarized the students with the practical knowledge of biodiversity conservation techniques.



B.Sc. III Semester had a laboratory visit in NARC, Khumultar, on January 24,2006 as a lab oriented practice in Biodiversity and biotechnology (BIO203.3). The aim of the visit is to familiarize the students with practical knowledge mainly related to in-situ conservation. ex-situ conservation and tissue culture etc.



B.Sc. I Semester visited in Godawari on Jan 17,2006 as a part of the curriculum of Introductory Biology(IB 101.3). The aim of this excursion is to make familiarize of the characteristic of the habitats and to collect specimens of the important and useful plants and animals and to train the various field techniques in the area of the preservation of fauna and flora specimens.



M.Sc. III Semester had a field visit to Sisdol, Nuwakot from Dec, 17-21 as a part of field study in Urban Environmental Management (UEM 203.3). The aim of the visit is to familiarize the students with the practical knowledge on design, construction and operation of sanitary landfill site.



M.Sc. III Semester had a field visit to Bagmara Community Forestry, Sauraha, Briquette Factory, Kawasoti, Madan Pohara, Palpa ( a model village of Nepal) and Kaligandaki Hydropower site, Mirmi form Dec 17-21, 2005 as a part field studies of the courses: Participatory Community Development (PCD203.3) and Energy, Environment and Economics (EEE203.3). The aim of the visit is to know the design and conceptualize community development paradigm through grass root approach, to observe the existing industrial process and its impact on the micro and macro environment, to get information about the kali Gandaki hydropower and to observe the environmental implication of the kaligandaki Hydropower Project.



M.Sc. III Semester had a lab visit to Institute of Engineering, Centre of Energy Studies (Zero Energy House), Pulchowk Campus T.U. on Feb 02,2006 as a practical work in Enery,. Environment and Economics (EEE203.3). The aim of this activity is to familiarize the practical knowledge of utilization of different sources of energy.
