| On
the occasion of World Environmental Day 2007 with
the theme "Melting Ice - A Hot Topic",
SchEMS organized different programs to show its
solidarity for the day. SchEMS's Environmental
Day program started with college and installed
a Model Nursery inside its premise in collaboration
with "Roots & Shoots Nepal". The
principle objective is to create general awareness
and necessity for the conservation of rare, threatened
and endangered species of plants. Students of
BSc fourth semester, Mahesh Sharma, Deepan Sapkota,
Rajan Raj Subedi and Manoj Gautam were actively
involved during construction of the Model Nursery.
Kamala Thapa provided the endemic plants with
support of FECOFUN. Dr. Ananda Raj Joshi (Director,
Academic Department) formally inaugurated the
Model Nursery on June 5, 2007. He said "
It is our prime responsibility to take concern
over the changing environment." He also focussed
on the burning issue of environment "Melting
Ice - A Hot Topic". To secure the planet
Earth in future, conservation of plant species
is an urgent need and ultimately it will lead
to make positive change in environment. |
